The suspects had reportedly blocked a road between Barawa and Salihawa village around 8:30am. Police sources said the robbers, during the operations shot one Sani Lawal, a 31-year old Resident of Salihawa village.
He said: "The development made other villagers to mobilise and confront the robbers who were eventually lynched"
It was gathered that Two of the robbers died on the spot, while the third one was rescued by police men who later arrived at the scene.
The police source however said the robber who was rescued by the police for treatment later died at General Hospital, Katsina.
The spokes man for the Katsina State Police Command, DSP Gambo Isah confirmed the incident and He said: "One locally made pistol was recovered from the lynched suspected armed robbers and at About 08:30am, the Divisional Police Officer, Batagarawa Division received information that armed robbers had blocked the road between Barawa and Salihawa village. In the Batagarawa LGA and shot one Sani Lawal of Salihawa village the DPO and his team immediately swing into action and moved to the scene before the arrival of the police patrol team the villagers had already summoned courage and mobilised to the scene where three yet to be identified suspected robbers were lynched and one locally made pistol was recovered.
"The last suspect later died, while the victim is responding to treatment. The men of the police Special Anti Robbery Squad have been deployed in the area with a view to arresting other fleeing members of the syndicate while investigation continues".
